May has been a good month

I find my blog posting waning as of late. The spring months have kept us busy. I have returned to work on a very part time basis, Laura is starting up again as well. Things are good on both fronts.

The boys passed three months last weekend and are now both over 15 lbs. We finished the new garden, as well as laminate flooring upstairs. Some spackel and a new coat of paint and we have a nice new room for Hannah and the boys. There is talk of an addition to the back of the barn as well as a zipline. Projects are the name of the game this summer.

I will post some pictures of the most recent completions soon.

Been a while…

Sorry for the delay in posting, things are busy and its hard to keep this up to date.

The playfort is done. I still need to install the slide, but not until we have a proper landing area built up. The boys had their two month shots yesterday. They turn two months in two days and they are 12 lbs each.

So things are well.

Building a playground

So Grandma and Grandpa decided to buy one of those playforts you build in your yard. After some pondering about where to put it, they decided to level out an area between the trampoline and the hot tub. So for the past week or so we have been digging and sifting and displacing dirt into the new garden area. This week we laid down the ties and nailed them together to make the frame. We put excess gravel and rocks in the deep end and picked up some gravel. Ten yards of gravel. Wow. We used a wheelbarrow and a heavy duty cart pulled by the lawnmower. I have posted some pictures of our progress to date. The cart brokedown and we need to replace it. We are about a foot of gravel off of finishing. Regrettably with the cart breaking down we did not finish the gravel today. We might need some more from the looks of it. Pictures on my picasa =P.

Feeding the ducks

We took Hannah out today to go feed the ducks down near Cedar Hill and Ascot. There was a nice fellow there feeding them who gave us a cup of wheat to feed them with too. We took some nice pictures and videos and posted them on picasa. Enjoy!

Happy one month boys!

Gabriel and Ethan celebrated their one month birthday today. We weighed them out to see where they stand. Gabriel is 9lbs 0.5oz and Ethan is 8lbs 13oz. Good job boys!

Nights and days are starting to straighten themselves out now. The boys have surpassed 7lbs as of last week. They are feeding well and having some good awake time playing with us. Another doctor’s appointment today to see how they are doing.

Happy Two Weeks, Gabriel and Ethan!

The boys are two weeks old today. Hopefully now they will start telling day and night apart soon. We weighed them yesterday and Gabriel is 7lbs 1.5oz while his younger brother, Ethan, is 7lbs 2.5oz. Way to go boys!

First outing with the boys

Tuesday we decided to take the boys out with Laura, Hannah, myself, and the Godbeer Grandparents. We headed to Costco and I finally got to rock the double stroller. The thing is so smooth to push. We actually had room in Laura’s car for a few groceries. After that we had lunch and headed home while Hannah, Granny and Grandpa headed out to Beacon Hill for a while.

Wednesday we hit our care group where everyone was excited to meet the little men. We also got a chance to see Gideon who has a full head of hair. Once I get ahold of the photo Jim took of the three of them I will post it.

Things are getting a bit more manageable. We have dropped pumping and supplements. Ethan has hit his birth weight and Gabriel has hit birth weight plus 1.5 oz. They are feeding well and gaining enough weight that things are getting easier to manage.

Day two at home

Day one was a little hectic. I felt rather useless after the boys had some cold supplement which gave them indigestion. Laura settled things down as she always does and I managed to get some sleep. To my frustration, she did not really get any. Today I stepped it up a notch and took charge getting chores done left and right while being ready to assist on the next feeding. We had a nurse visit today and drop off a pump to help with the milk production. We also took the boys to get circumsized. Gabriel cried almost all the way through. Ethan didn’t even whimper. Par for course really.

Laura is nervous about how to deal with cleaning around the area and changing diapers. I took care of that when Gabriel peed across the bed and all over himself. The boys have been anesthetic free for about 2 hours and are sleeping soundly. Laura too is sleeping. She should get a solid 3 hours in. I have some Infant Tylenol on hand just in case the boys are hurting from the snip snip. I’ll get some rest in another two hours once the midnight feeding is done and over with.

I have to say its a lot of work but having Laura take charge of the schedule and tell me when she needs help and when I should sleep is good. She rules this game and I am her pawn. We are planning on disrupting church tomorrow morning by bringing the boys with us. Everyone has been eager to meet them. I’m praying for them to get through their week of healing from the circumsicion and so is Laura.

So far so good. We can do this. Grandparents come down for a few weeks in another day so we are looking forward to the additional support.

The boys are coming home

Sounds like we will be bringing Laura and the boys home this evening around 5pm. The doctors wanted to see that they are getting enough food from Laura. The milk has come in and they are not fussing early for more food, so it is looking good.

Hannah and I are preparing for their arrival at home and will return to the hospital in a few hours to get them.
